Evening Flesh, Morning Bread

Exodus 16:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Exodus 16 in context

Scripture Focus

11And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
12I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.
Exodus 16:11-12

Biblical Context

God reveals that He has heard their murmurings and promises that in the evening they shall eat flesh and in the morning they shall be filled with bread, so they may know that He is the LORD their God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within your own consciousness, Exodus 16:11-12 reveals a law of inner provision, not a desert journey. The murmuring is the ego’s habit of lack; the evening flesh and morning bread are movements of your awareness by which you are fed. When you align with the I AM—the Lord your God you already are—food becomes a symbol of nourishment supplied by your own consciousness. The I AM is not distant; it is the act of attention that says, I am fed; I am complete. As you dwell in that awareness, you witness the appearance of supply as felt reality—tastes of fulfillment that come at dusk and dawn of your inner weather. The promise is a present invitation: know that you are the Lord your God by the experience of your own awareness.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already nourished and feel it now; in the evening imagine a feast that satisfies your longing and in the morning wake to bread renewing your mind. Repeat, 'I am the Lord my God,' until it feels true.
