The verse instructs to tell your son that the deliverance you experienced came from the LORD when you came out of Egypt.
Neville's Inner Vision
Exodus 13:8 speaks to the grown-up within you: the story of leaving bondage is not merely a past event but a present structure of awareness. The 'son' represents your future self, a consciousness that lives from the liberty you have already won. The 'day' is this very moment of attention; the 'this is done' declares that your freedom arises from the I AM within, not from external happenings. When you say, 'This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me,' you acknowledge that the inner act of deliverance—God in you, the I AM— established your exit from bondage long before any outward sign. The outward Egypt becomes a symbol for any limitation you undo by shifting your inner state. Covenant loyalty means remaining faithful to the understanding that you are forever guided by this internal LORD. Providence and grace are not distant favors but your ongoing experience as you dwell in the awareness of the I AM that you are.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and speak to your inner son: 'This day I tell you that all my deliverance is done by the LORD within me; I came forth from bondage, and I am free now.' Feel the relief as if already true.
