Biblical Context
Exodus 10:21-23 shows a clear distinction: Egypt is immersed in palpable darkness, while the Israelites enjoy light in their homes.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine the land as your state of consciousness. The thick darkness that Egypt endures is not only weather but the felt experience of fear, limitation, and separation from the awareness of the I AM. Stretching the hand toward heaven represents turning the attention from surface appearances to the higher vision of consciousness. As Moses lifts his hand, you lift your focus—your own imagination—toward a truth that cannot be touched by the senses. The three days of darkness are the interval in which the old and fear-driven story seems real. Yet, in the dwellings of the true Israelites, there is light, not because of external conditions, but because the inner state of awareness remains undisturbed. If you accept and dwell in that inner light, you negate the external dark scenario. The command to stretch toward heaven becomes your daily practice: identify with the I AM, see the light within, and let the outer world reflect that inner illumination. The judgment of darkness dissolves in the certainty that you are always the light that shines within.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and, with a single assumption, declare, 'I am the light in my dwelling.' Then revise any sense of outer darkness by imagining it dissolving into a glow that fills your inner space.
