The Imagination Reverses Decrees
Esther 8:5-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Esther 8 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Esther asks the king to reverse the letters erasing the destruction of her people; she can't bear the harm to her kin. The king honors her plea and invites them to write a fresh decree in his name, guaranteeing protection.
Neville's Inner Vision
Esther’s appeal is not to a distant sovereign alone; it reveals the living I AM behind every outward title. The letters, though written in the king’s name, are really written in your own consciousness, and the power to reverse is yours the moment you align with the truth that you are the king who rules by grace. When Esther says, write for the Jews in the king's name and seal it with the king's ring, she is instructing you to stamp your inner decision with the authority of the I AM. The “cannot be reversed” clause is only a habit of disbelief; you can rewrite it by assuming the new decree as already in effect, dissolving the old fear by a brighter inner state. Mercy you seek is Providence answering to a settled state of consciousness that refuses to entertain harm. Your world of appearances yields to the inner conviction that your life and those you cherish are spared because you remain conscious of their freedom. In this sense, Esther’s story is your story: write, seal, and live from the certainty that the decree has changed in your heart.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume the reversal, declaring, 'I am the decree; it is written in the king’s name and cannot be undone.' Feel the relief and sense the new reality already surrounding you.
