Inner Armor of Consciousness
Ephesians 6:17-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ephesians 6 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul urges you to clothe your mind with salvation and to wield the Word of God as a living power. He also commands constant, Spirit-led prayer and steadfast watchfulness for all saints.
Neville's Inner Vision
The helmet and sword are not external gear but the verbs of your inner life. Salvation is a state of consciousness I awaken to—that I AM, intact here and now. The Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, is the living utterance I imprint on my world—my imagination acting with authority as I declare my state. The phrase 'in the Spirit' means I converse from that higher level of awareness, letting feeling verify the truth rather than doubt. By praying with all perseverance I refuse to let outer appearances override my inner assumption; I keep my attention on the desired state until it becomes the atmosphere I breathe. 'For all saints' expands my practice beyond myself: I interpenetrate my circle with the same inner certainty, knowing I contribute to their salvation by my own stability. Practically, I can sit still, close my eyes, and imagine I am already saved; I speak the Word as if it is true now; and I maintain that state until my outer conditions adjust to it.
Practice This Now
Practice now: assume you are saved and wear the helmet of salvation in imagination. Speak the Word from that certainty and hold the state with a brief, steady prayer for all saints until it reverberates in your surroundings.
