Descent and Ascent Within

Ephesians 4:9-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ephesians 4 in context

Scripture Focus

9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
Ephesians 4:9-10

Biblical Context

Ephesians 4:9-10 speaks of Christ descending to the lower parts and ascending to fill all things, illustrating the inner movement of God in creation.

Neville's Inner Vision

The verses describe the movement of consciousness, not a distant event. The 'lower parts of the earth' signify the hidden beliefs, fears, and sense of separation within your mind. The 'descended' Christ is your I AM presence entering those inner rooms with compassionate awareness, not judgment. The one who descended is the same who ascends far above, meaning your awareness rises beyond old definitions to illuminate every aspect of your being. This is a transformation of consciousness: by embracing the I AM, you allow your entire inner climate to shift, and you begin to feel that your awareness fills all you encounter. Descent invites you to examine and revise, while ascent confirms the fullness of life available here and now. The outer world, then, reflects the settled condition of your inner state. Return to the stillness of the I AM and affirm that you are the very presence that sought to be expressed. In that affirmation you enact the verse in present experience.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine the I AM descending into your hidden beliefs, then rising to fill every corner of your mind; repeat, I AM filling all, and revise this belief into its divine opposite, feeling it real.
