The Inner Edifying Mandate

Ephesians 4:12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ephesians 4 in context

Scripture Focus

12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Ephesians 4:12

Biblical Context

The verse states that believers are to be perfected, equipped for ministry, and built up in unity within the body.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, the 'saints' are not distant people but states of consciousness within you. To perfect them is to align your I AM with a higher reality, refining your thoughts, feelings, and choices until they harmonize with unity and wholeness. The 'work of the ministry' is not far-off labor; it is the daily practice of imagination—the deliberate act of imagining love, service, and truth and acting from that inner conviction. When you imagine yourself edifying others, you become the minister you truly are, not through a role you perform but as the being you are in consciousness. 'Edifying the body of Christ' becomes the orderly functioning of your inner body—the mind, heart, and will—powered by alignment, faith, and gratitude so every part speaks in one cadence. The verse invites you to cease seeking external programs and begin governing your inner world until it radiates outward as tangible harmony. Sit with the certainty that I AM is your source; in that certainty you perfect, minister, and edify—until the whole body rises together in peace and health.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Tonight, assume you are already perfected in your inner state; revise a current limitation as healed, and then imagine yourself quietly edifying someone else, feeling the unity of the body within.
