Inner Eyes of Wisdom

Ecclesiastes 2:12-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ecclesiastes 2 in context

Scripture Focus

12And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the king? even that which hath been already done.
13Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.
14The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all.
Ecclesiastes 2:12-14

Biblical Context

Ecclesiastes 2:12-14 meditates on turning inward to compare wisdom and folly: wisdom shines like light, folly walks in darkness. It also declares that the same event comes to all, revealing the inner state that produced it.

Neville's Inner Vision

To the reader, Ecclesiastes whispers: turn within and observe the two faces of consciousness—wisdom and folly. Wisdom is the awakened state that sees beyond appearances; folly is fear dressed as fact, the light turned off in the mind. The wise man's eyes are in his head: inner sight that knows this world is your dream and you are the dreamer. The fool walks in darkness, unaware that every event is the mirror of your current state. And that 'one event' you fear or welcome is merely the manifestation of the long-sown inner state. Therefore, shift your state, and the world will follow. You are the I AM behind all seeming; imagine from the end, allow the sensation of that reality to fill you, and watch as the inner light displaces the darkness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: In a quiet moment, decide the end you want, say 'I am wise and clearly guided,' and hold that state while revising a current scene; feel it real for 3 minutes and let that sensation lead your next breath and choice.
