Endless Cycles Of Consciousness

Ecclesiastes 1:4-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ecclesiastes 1 in context

Scripture Focus

4One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.
5The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
6The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
7All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
8All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
Ecclesiastes 1:4-8

Biblical Context

Generations come and go, while the earth endures. The sun, wind, and rivers move in continual circuits, and our eyes and ears cannot be finally satisfied.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider this: the world’s inner state is your inner condition. Ecclesiastes is not a ledger of events but a map of consciousness. The generations that pass away and the earth that abides point you to a constant I AM, the unchanging awareness behind every rising sun and turning wind. When you see the rivers rushing to the sea, recognize that desire and movement are but figures in your own mind, returning to the Source as the sea returns to its origin. The perpetual labor of all things reveals not external fatigue but the restless activity of mind seeking satisfaction outside itself. Yet you sleep not in the world; you awaken in the awareness that witnesses the cycles. The still, inner I AM remains unaffected by any circuit, and by affirming that you are this awareness, the cycles outwardly reflect your revised state. Allow the mind to inhabit a single, timeless observer and watch how change appears to move, while consciousness itself remains serene.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: In a quiet moment, assume the I AM is the enduring ground of experience, and revise all cyclical events as movements in consciousness that you observe and don’t own; feel it real by repeating, 'I am the awareness that remains.'
