Read Deuteronomy 6 in context

Scripture Focus

24And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
Deuteronomy 6:24

Biblical Context

God commands these statutes for our good and for our ongoing preservation. The keeping of them is tied to living fully in the present moment.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, this verse speaks to the I AM within you. The statutes are not distant laws but inner habits of consciousness designed for your good, to preserve the vitality of your life in the only moment that exists—the now. When you fear the LORD, you are not fearing a thundercloud; you are agreeing with the inner law, the steady awareness that remains when thoughts rise and pass. To 'do all these statutes' is to continually rehearse the image of yourself living in harmony with the law of your own being. 'Preserve us alive' means the continuity of life in consciousness, not merely physical survival. 'As it is at this day' points to your present state of awareness, which can be renewed by a simple act of imagining yourself already living in accordance with your inner commandments. The scene is interior: your God is the I AM within, and obedience is devotion to that awareness. Align with it, and you will experience safety, health, and enduring life—the life you seek is the life you imagine within.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the feeling of being preserved alive by living in harmony with your inner law; in your next breath, revise any fear by declaring, 'I am the I AM here, and this moment preserves me.'
