Inner Commandments for Abundant Life
Deuteronomy 6:1-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 6 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
These verses present the commandments, statutes, and judgments as a teaching to be kept in the land of promise. Obedience is connected to well-being and long life.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, the land is your own consciousness, and the commandments are the steadfast habits you induct into that psyche. To hear, to observe, to do—these are inner movements that align your awareness with the law of life you already embody as I AM. The fear of the LORD becomes reverent attention to your own awakened mind, not trembling before gods outside you, but honoring the governing principle within. When you keep these statutes in imagination and feeling, your days are prolonged because your inner weather stabilizes into well-being, vitality, and order. Milk and honey appear as the natural abundance of a disciplined consciousness, a daily experience of wholeness that follows from consistent inner fidelity. Do not seek the land in the outer realm as a distant goal; see the promise as the quality of your inner state, a present-tense reality you choose by consent and imagination. The invitation is to dwell in this awareness now, and in doing so you become the promise you seek.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes, return to I AM, and revise: 'I already keep these inner commandments; I now live in the land of abundance.' Feel the feeling of that reality as if it were true in this moment.
