Impartial Inner Judgment

Deuteronomy 16:19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 16 in context

Scripture Focus

19Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.
Deuteronomy 16:19

Biblical Context

Justice must be impartial and free from favoritism or gifts. When bias enters, the wise are blinded and the righteous words are twisted.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you, judgment is not a verdict imposed by the world but the quiet discernment of your own consciousness. The 'gift' is any attachment to outcomes, a reward you seek or fear you will miss; when you crave it, your inner eye becomes blind to the truth moving in scenes around you. Do not wrest judgment by bending it to favor or to avoid loss; see every situation with the eye of the I AM, the ever-present awareness that knows the end from the beginning. Respect persons as the divine image in all, not as a status to be gained or spared; but do not permit that image to be bent by preference either. The 'wise' who see the inner law do not barter with appearances; the 'righteous' speak from the immutable truth of your true nature. If you notice your speech turning toward judgment or flattery, revise it inwardly: declare the fact of your oneness with divine order and feel it real. In that alignment, you awaken an impartial discernment that no external gift can distort.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: In a current scene where you would judge or be swayed, assume the I AM as the impartial judge and revise the moment to reflect true discernment. Feel it real that your inner verdict rests in divine order, not in personal gain.
