Inner Door Of Sacred Service

Deuteronomy 15:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 15 in context

Scripture Focus

16And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;
17Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise.
Deuteronomy 15:16-17

Biblical Context

The verse says that if a servant loves the master and his house and chooses to stay, the master marks him by piercing the ear at the door, binding him to lifelong service (the same for the maidservant).

Neville's Inner Vision

In the Neville Goddard sense, the 'master' is the I AM within you, and the 'house' is your inner atmosphere. The 'ear-piercing' at the door is the decisive alignment you make with a particular state of consciousness; the vow 'I will not go away' is not about external bondage but the inward commitment to that state. The forever servanthood denotes the lasting effects of a persistent assumption; once you inwardly accept and live as the chosen state, your entire consciousness becomes its servant and creator. The door represents the boundary of awareness, and imagination is the hinge by which you enter the state. To treat the ritual literally misses the point; the real act is the mental pledge that you are already one with your desired state, and your experiences will follow. Therefore, regard yourself as forever joined to the state you love, and watch events conform to that inner vow.

Practice This Now

Practice: close your eyes, breathe, and revise your state by saying, 'I now belong to the state of abundant life, and I will not depart from it.' Feel it as a settled sensation in your chest and imagine the inner door softly closing as you step fully into that reality.
