Inner Identity of God's People
Deuteronomy 14:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 14 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage declares you are the LORD's children and holy, chosen above all nations. It also cautions against outward signs of mourning.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the seeker, this verse is the reminder that I am the LORD's child here and now. 'Ye are the children' means my awareness knows itself as Father, not a distant event. The outward acts of cutting and mourning are symbols of an old belief in separation; I drop them as I realize they are not required to prove the truth of my nature. Holiness is not a moral score but a state of alignment with the one I AM, the Presence within. The phrase 'holy people, chosen' is the inner declaration that my consciousness is set apart by its agreement with God, a sovereignty beyond outward nations. 'Peculiar' is the sign of a distinct inner law—the discipline of thought and feeling that makes me my own temple. As I hold this state, I stop seeking approval from external signs and live from the reality that I am already the LORD's, already chosen. The world then adjusts to the inner tone I maintain, echoing the truth that imagination shapes reality and identity is a state I inhabit, not a destiny I reach.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the LORD's child now,' then imagine a soft divine light enveloping you; revise any belief in separation and rest in the certainty of your holy, chosen state.
