Biblical Context
Daniel 8:23-25 presents a late-stage rise of a fierce king whose power comes from belief rather than personal power, destroying both mighty and holy people and prospering through cunning. It ends with the inner sovereignty dissolving the illusion, signaling the fall of egoic power without hands.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through Neville’s lens, the ‘king’ is not a man but a state of consciousness that arises when the transgressions of the mind have reached fullness. The ‘fierce countenance’ is the image your imagination projects when you believe in power outside your I AM. ‘Power shall be mighty, but not by his own power’ indicates this force lives by borrowed belief—an illusion that prospers through collective agreement, not real strength. It magnifies itself in the heart and uses ‘peace’ as a tool to destroy those who would stand in sacred presence. Yet the closing note—‘he shall stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand’—points to the inner law: when you awaken to the I AM, refuse identification with that ego, and affirm your true source, the power of the illusion dissolves. The inner Christ, the Prince of princes, resides in you as sovereign awareness and defeats the illusion by recognition, not resistance.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM as your sole ruler in this moment. See the fierce ego-king arise, then affirm inwardly, 'I AM that I AM,' watching its power dissolve into peace.
