Biblical Context
Colossians 1:15-20 declares Christ as the image of God, the firstborn over all creation, through whom all things were created and are sustained; He is before all things and the head of the body, the church, with fullness dwelling in Him and reconciliation extended to all things through His cross.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through Neville Goddard’s psychology, the verse speaks not of distant events but of your inner state. Christ is presented as the image of the invisible God, the I AM you awaken to in consciousness. In your inner being, all things are created and held together by this self-aware principle, and He stands before all things as the governing quality of your life. The “head of the body, the church” is your sense of self in harmony with the whole of life; the fullness that dwells in Him is the wholeness you consciously claim as your own awareness. Through the cross, reconciliation becomes a revision of your inner state, uniting what you once perceived as separate into a single, harmonious reality. The message is simple: let your imagination assume Christ’s preeminence as your present state, and your world will conform to that state because your consciousness is the source of all manifest forms.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume the feeling, I AM the image of the invisible God; Christ's preeminence is my present state. Rest there for a few minutes, letting the sense of harmony and reconciliation fill your awareness.
