Biblical Context
Amos 7:1-9 presents three visions of grasshoppers, fire, and a plumbline as divine warnings. The passage shows God seeking forgiveness for Jacob and then declaring a standard of justice that will desolate old sanctuaries if the people do not turn inward.
Neville's Inner Vision
These visions are not distant forecasts but states of consciousness moving within you. The grasshoppers are the creeping thoughts and appetites that rise with the new growth of your inner life, gnawing at the soil after the king's mowing. When you cry for forgiveness you are declaring your awareness of your true size the I AM waiting to awaken. The Lord repenting is the inward mercy that says I will not pass you by if you turn. The fire that devours the great deep is the purifying energy of the I AM dissolving old foundations that no longer serve your true being. The plumbline held by the Lord in the wall is the exact measure by which you appraise every thought and feeling. When you accept that standard the high places of Isaac and the sanctuaries of Israel your fixed beliefs attachments and rituals grow desolate and the sword rises against Jeroboams house meaning your old identity is undone. All of this occurs first in consciousness align with the I AM and the outer world will follow.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe, and imagine a bright plumbline resting in the center of your chest; declare I AM the measure of my life, and feel your thoughts and feelings align with this standard as you release old wandering concerns. Let forgiveness settle as your immediate felt reality.
