Inner Judgment, Exile, and Renewal
Amos 6:8-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Amos 6 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God declares judgment on the proud city and its wealth. A mere handful left in a house may die.
Neville's Inner Vision
Let the city be your outward dream of security—the palaces of wealth and fame. When the Lord swears by Himself, He speaks through the I AM that dwells in you. The 'destruction of the city' is not punishment but the thinning of an outer identity mistaken for life. The exile and the dying within a house symbolize the collapse of old beliefs when you stop clinging to them as reality. Yet a remnant of awareness remains—the inner governor, the I AM, which cannot be touched by outer forms. The instruction is to revise your sense of self until the inner state is dominant: recognize that outer riches are not life, while inner wealth endures. As you dwell in that truth, the seeming judgment becomes a doorway, and the outer world rearranges to match your new consciousness. Exile becomes a rite of passage, not a catastrophe, and renewal follows as your inner city stands while former palaces fall away. You are not punished; you awaken. The die is cast in your imagination; the power to renew lies within you.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume the I AM is the sole governor of your life and feel that this inner kingdom is intact today. Then revise by declaring, 'From this moment, my outer conditions reflect my inner wealth.'
