Biblical Context
Peter prays and speaks to Dorcas, and she rises; the event leads to belief spreading through the community.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this inner gospel, Dorcas stands as the living memory of good deeds, a quality long dormant within your consciousness. The body is the worn mask of awareness, and the command “arise” is the inward decision to awaken a forgotten virtue. Peter, kneeling and praying, represents the focused practice of turning attention from outer grief to the inner life where imagination reigns. When he says Tabitha, arise, the inner faculty opens its eyes; the saints and widows correspond to the inner energies of faith and compassion that witness the restoration. The resurrection becomes an inner shift: you choose to believe that what you once valued—charity, usefulness, care—lives again in your present moment. As you align with this inner order—the I AM awakening buried goodness—belief itself becomes living reality, and others come to faith as your inner life manifests outwardly. The Lord in your life is your own awareness made visible through renewed action, here and now.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and affirm that a long-dormant virtue (such as kindness or service) is alive within you now. Silently command 'Arise' in your mind, feel it real, and notice one small, tangible action today that reflects its revival.
