Biblical Context
Philip goes to the city of Samaria and preaches Christ to the people there.
Neville's Inner Vision
Philip's going to Samaria is not a travel diary; it is a chart of your own consciousness. Samaria is an inner city, a state of mind that resists or receives the Christ within. When Philip preaches Christ unto them, he displays an inner decision: to acknowledge the presence of Christ as I AM here, now. The story invites you to see that every city, every person, every encounter is an inner movement of belief. As you assume the feeling that Christ is already present in you and all you meet, you begin to speak to that inner city with authority. Your imagination is the instrument that can convert perception into redemption; the outward event follows the inner conviction. So, the act of preaching becomes a discipline of faithfulness: you declare the truth within as the only reality, and you let the world align to that truth. The 'down to Samaria' is simply a descent into your own memory and fear to transmute it with the reality of Christ. In this way, salvation is not a distant event but an immediate act of consciousness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the feeling that Christ is already within you now. In a quiet moment, speak to your inner Samaria as if you are preaching to it, and feel your consciousness rise to that truth.
