Neville's Inner Vision
In this verse, the reception of the Holy Ghost is shown as a state of consciousness to be awakened, not a distant event granted by external hands. The ones who descend to pray represent the inner reach of your own mind toward those you wish to bless with Spirit. Prayer here is the act of aligning your inner atmosphere with the fact that Spirit is already present within all, and that unity is the natural condition of life. When you imagine or proclaim that another is already touched by the Spirit, you are teaching your own heart the truth of oneness. The Holy Ghost arrives through the imagination and the feeling of the wish fulfilled, not by force but by the inward assumption that Spirit is their constant reality. The gesture of intercession becomes a demonstration that the divine life is actively present within you and through you, transforming the inner world you inhabit and the world that bears witness to it.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and imagine the person you are praying for; declare, 'I am one with the Holy Spirit in them now,' and feel that Spirit as a present reality.
