Inner Power and Simon's Bewitchment

Acts 8:10-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Acts 8 in context

Scripture Focus

10To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
Acts 8:10-11

Biblical Context

The crowd reveres a magician-like figure, calling him the great power of God, because he has long bewitched them with sorceries. The passage shows how reputation can rise from illusion rather than true worship.

Neville's Inner Vision

Verse shows a crowd that hails an outward display, calling him the great power of God because he has bewitched them with sorceries. Yet God is the I AM within you, not a public idol or personified power. The so-called sorcery is simply a state of consciousness that has been accepted as reality. You, too, can revise this image by returning to the awareness that you are the creator of your experience. The true worship is the recognition that the I AM is the only power and that all external status is a reflection of inner belief. In spiritual warfare you do not conquer flesh and blood but transform the mind that seeks power outside. Sit in quiet and imagine the truth of your oneness with the I AM, feel it real, and let the imagined state replace the old tale of sorcery. As you persist, the outer scene shifts to harmony with that inner reality.

Practice This Now

Assume the I AM as your present consciousness right now. Revise the scene by declaring that no external power can govern you and feel the reality of this inward power.
