Biblical Context
Paul calls the elders and recounts his ministry of humility, tears, and relentless teaching. The inner message is to turn your heart toward God and toward faith in Christ.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine you stand in the place of Paul, not in a place in Asia, but as the state of consciousness that governs your life. The elders are your higher faculties gathered in the chamber of your mind, and your past experiences are the audience to whom you testify. You know, from the first moment you awakened, the manner in which you have walked with you at all seasons—humble, persistent, and fearless in the presence of inner threats. Serving the LORD with all humility of mind means you treat every thought as a servant, not as a master; the tears are the release of fear and the grief of a belief long clung to, allowed to move through you. Temptations from old judgments arise as the lying in wait of the Jews, but you do not shield from your own awareness— you observe and transform. Keeping back nothing profitable unto you is the discipline of not withholding any insight that could nourish your inner community. Teach you publicly and from house to house means you practice revelation in every setting, aloud in imagination and in quiet reverie. Repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ is simply turning your attention to the I AM and trusting the Christ within as your active principle.
Practice This Now
Imaginative_act: Sit quietly, assume the humility of mind toward your I AM, and declare, 'I keep nothing profitable back from my inner teachers.' Then feel repentance toward God awakening faith in Christ within.
