Acts 19:1-2

Biblical Context

Paul found certain disciples in Ephesus and asked if they had received the Holy Ghost since they believed. They replied that they had not even heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, this passage is a map of your inner weather. The disciples are a state of consciousness that has believed in God but has not yet realized the Presence within. The question 'Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?' asks whether you have allowed inner awareness to take up residence in your life. The Holy Ghost represents the living I AM—the faculty by which you perceive, feel, and move. Their reply, 'We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost,' shows a habit of assuming spiritual absence while clinging to belief. The cure is practical and internal: stop seeking externally and assume the Spirit's presence now. Create in imagination the feeling of the Holy Ghost circulating through you, and dwell in that reality until it becomes your immediate state. As you persist, the external matters conform to the inner conviction that you are already touched by Grace and favored by God. Realize that your belief is the seed, and your feeling of presence is the sun that makes it sprout.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling of the Holy Ghost already present: I AM within me now. Dwell there until that inner presence becomes your immediate experience.
