Scripture Focus

1Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:
2Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.
Acts 16:1-2

Biblical Context

Timothy is described as a disciple in Derbe and Lystra, the son of a Jewish mother and a Greek father. The believers at Lystra and Iconium spoke of him with high regard.

Neville's Inner Vision

Timothy's birth into belief is not a matter of blood but a state of consciousness. The Jewess mother denotes the heart's devotion to the unseen I AM; the Greek father indicates the mind's engagement with the outer world. Yet he believes. This inner fusion births a disciple who is 'well reported' by the brethren, meaning your inner circles recognize the state you are assuming. The outer report mirrors your inner assumption. Therefore, if you wish to see your life altered, assume you already stand as a trusted disciple in your own Derbes and Lystras. Do not strive to convert others, revise your sense of self so that the inner 'brethren' affirm you. When you feel and act from this unity, your surroundings will reflect it; you will be affirmed for the fidelity of your inner state.

Practice This Now

Assume quietly that your inner community already sees you as faithful and well-spoken of. Revise your self-image today to align with that witness, and feel it real.
