Read Acts 11 in context

Scripture Focus

17Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
Acts 11:17

Biblical Context

Peter notes that God bestowed the same gift on Gentiles as on believers, and wonders who he is to withstand God.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this verse, God is the I AM within you, the creative power that moves all souls. The “like gift” is not a past event but a state of consciousness available to every heart that believes. When you feel resistance, you are resisting your own divine action, as if God could be separated from your inner being. Peter’s confession reveals a universal grace: if God gives the gift to them, He has already given it to you in the same measure. To entertain resistance is to forget the unity of all consciousness and to contract the space of your inner kingdom. The moment you accept that you and your brothers are seated in the same divine gift, faith arises as a present-tense reality, not a future possibility. Providence guides you by aligning your inner trust with the truth of everyone's spiritual birthright. Open your inner ear; listen for the whisper that says, “you are included; you are Given; you are free.”

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, declare that the divine gift is common to all, especially to you, and feel the I AM accepting it now. Then imagine your brother or sister receiving the same gift and let that consistency imprint your heart.
