Biblical Context
Two men who had accompanied Jesus from John’s baptism to his ascension were proposed as witnesses of the Resurrection, and Matthias and Barsabas (Justus) were named as candidates to be chosen.
Neville's Inner Vision
All the scene is inside your mind. The request to replace Judas is a call to examine your own states of consciousness. The two candidates symbolize two faculties of mind ready to testify to the risen life, one anchored in the old script of John’s baptism and the other looking to the Ascension. The apostles’ decision is not a historical event but an inner discernment: which state will serve as your confirmed witness to the truth that life is eternal and present now? When you allow a state to be ordained as witness, you declare your inner reality—your awareness that the Christ within is alive. The act of choosing is a turning of attention that births freedom, mission, and presence, transforming perception from fear or memory into action in alignment with the risen life. In this light, the “two” become two facets of one mind you test by your willingness to accept and witness your own rebirth. The result is a clear, lived determination to witness the truth in daily life through assumption and feeling it real.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you are the chosen inner witness testifying to your risen life. Feel it real by repeating, 'I am the witness of the Resurrection within me, right now.'
