The Inner King's Kindness
2 Samuel 9:3-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Samuel 9 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
David seeks any remaining descendant of Saul to show kindness; Mephibosheth, who is lame, is found in Lodebar, brought to David, and promised restored land and a seat at the king's table.
Neville's Inner Vision
David is the outer mask of your I AM, the conscious ruler awakening mercy toward every part of you that has been neglected. The house of Saul represents a forgotten lineage of fear and lack, while Mephibosheth—the son who is lame—embodies wounded, immobile aspects of the mind that have wandered in dryness. Lodebar is the barren mental state where such fragments have dwelt. When you, in awareness, ask if there is yet any of Saul's house, you summon the feeling of mercy into your being, not from without but from the unconditioned nature of awareness. The king's promise to restore the land signifies that your consciousness can reclaim your full inheritance. Fetching Mephibosheth from Lodebar is the inner act of releasing limitation and inviting wholeness. Eating at the king's table continually is the experiential presence of God as your steady state, a daily feast of assurance. Jonathan's sake points to loyalty to your divine lineage, to your higher self, sustaining covenant even when the old self hopes otherwise.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and picture Mephibosheth stepping from Lodebar into the king's room and sitting at the king's table; then say I am beloved of the I AM, restored to my rightful inheritance, and let that feeling linger until it becomes your normal state.
