The Inner Tent Dwelling

2 Samuel 7:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Samuel 7 in context

Scripture Focus

6Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.
7In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?
2 Samuel 7:6-7

Biblical Context

God says He has not dwelt in any house since Egypt; He has walked in a tent and a tabernacle. He asks why a cedar house should be built for Him.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, the tent is a state of awareness, not a place. The Lord's words mean that the I AM, the Presence within, does not need a cedar temple to be present. Israel's wilderness journey mirrors your inner life of shifting conditions; the cedar house image represents fixating form instead of acknowledging the inner sanctuary. True worship arises when you cease seeking God outside and recognize He is within now. Your outer life shifts only as your inner state aligns with the awareness that God is already there. The covenant loyalty is fidelity to this inner Presence, not to a structure. When you imagine you are the house in which God resides, you release the old sense of separation and let reality answer to the consciousness you are.

Practice This Now

Assume the state by imagining a tent within your mind where God dwells, and declare, 'I am the Presence now.' Feel it real as you continue with the day.
