Benaiah is named among the mighty men, more honorable than the thirty, and David places him over his guard.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, do you hear the whisper of the text? Benaiah’s strength is not merely muscle; it is the unquestioned loyalty of a consciousness that stands over its guard. The three mighty men are exalted states we think we lack; Benaiah, though not among them, is trusted to organize and defend the realm. This is the Kingdom of God: a kingly order within, where you govern your thoughts, feelings, and purposes. The king (your I AM) places you in charge of the guard when you prove faithful in the small duties of attention and fearlessness in decision. Your vocation, your work, your life’s calls, are not outside of you but the outward proof of an inward arrangement. Imagination, rightly used, makes this tangible: you are the steward of your inner gate, the one who keeps the useful from the useless, who invites courage, steadiness, and fidelity. Feel it now: you are over your guard; you belong on the throne of your own city. The honor comes from within, not from rank; trust and claim it by assumption.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the posture of one who is over the guard; feel the weight of responsibility and declare, 'I am the guard of my thoughts.'
