Biblical Context
In 2 Samuel 18:28–30, Ahimaaz tells David that all is well and blesses the Lord, while the king asks about Absalom’s safety; the outward report comes, but its meaning remains uncertain until interpreted from within.
Neville's Inner Vision
When you read Ahimaaz’s words—‘All is well’—you are hearing the outward messenger reporting the state of things. Yet the king’s anxious question about Absalom reveals a deeper longing: the inner life seeks a definitive end, not just news. In Neville’s psychology, events are states of consciousness; the tumult Ahimaaz witnessed is not a fact about the world but a clash of inner dispositions. The king’s directive to “turn aside and stand here” invites you to quiet the field of noisy thoughts and attend to the still, unshakable witness within. Providence and the Presence of God are not found in the uproar of appearances but in the realization that your I AM—the inner king—has already resolved the conflict in consciousness. The “delivery of the men” who lifted up their hand against the king becomes the inner release of resistance when you refuse to be carried away by outer tidings. What you perceive as a partial or concealed outcome mirrors your own inner end already settled by your assumed state. You are invited to dwell in the assumption that the kingdom is safe and true.
Practice This Now
Take a moment now to assume the end: the inner king is safe and the rebellion within is resolved. Place a hand on your heart and quietly affirm, “The I AM within me has delivered the kingdom; all is well,” feeling that assurance as a lived reality.
