Grace and Deception in Kingship
2 Samuel 16:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Samuel 16 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
King asks about Mephibosheth; Ziba reports that he is in Jerusalem and that Israel will restore the kingdom to his father’s line. The king then grants Ziba all that belonged to Mephibosheth, while Ziba begs for grace.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this scene, the king is your I AM, the living awareness. The question 'where is thy master's son?' asks where your deeper self—the true heir—resides in your life. Ziba's report that Mephibosheth abides in Jerusalem signals the mind's attachment to distant, worldly conditions: 'today the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father' becomes a belief that power flows from surface appearances. The king's reply, 'Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth,' is a revelation: the wealth of your inner son is already claimed by your state of consciousness; the inheritance is not earned but recognized by awareness. Yet Ziba's humble plea exposes how the ego cloaks itself in piety to secure favor through appearances. The practice is simple: dwell in the I AM and revise the scene by feeling that the inner son and its kingdom are yours now. When you assume this grace, the external transfer loses force and your life aligns with a single, sovereign presence: you.
Practice This Now
Assume now that all that belonged to Mephibosheth is yours. Feel the king's grace as present reality and revise the scene until your awareness holds the inheritance.
