Inner Word, Outer World
2 Peter 3:5-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Peter 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Peter says people are ignorant that the heavens and earth were formed by the word of God, and that the ancient world was washed away by a flood. The verse invites seeing outer events as reflections of inner states.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within me, the 'word of God' is the living design I continually speak in imagination. The heavens that were 'of old' symbolize the long habit of thought I have allowed to define my life. The earth 'standing out of the water and in the water' represents the boundary between my inner feelings and outer form: consciousness rising above the emotional tides yet needing the water of feeling to give it shape. When I understand that the world that then was perished by water, I understand that a shift in my inner state can dissolve former appearances. The flood is not a catastrophe outside of me but a symbolic clearing of old assumptions as I revise the state I live from. By treating the Word as a present, living fact within me, I sculpt a new order: a world that reflects peace, order, and true fulfillment. My awareness is the architect; the imagined scene is the building.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume the state of I AM as your governing presence now; revise a stubborn limitation by speaking, 'I am the operant power of my world.' Then feel it real by closing your eyes and dwelling in the new scene until it occupies your senses.
