Biblical Context
2 Peter 3:10-13 speaks of the Day of the Lord arriving suddenly, dissolving the old order, and inviting believers to live holy lives while awaiting a new heavens and a new earth where righteousness dwells. It invites a shift of focus from outward events to inner renewal.
Neville's Inner Vision
Remember, the day spoken of is not a distant tomorrow but the awakening of awareness within. The thief in the night is your old self slipping away as you stand in the certainty of I AM. The heavens passing away and the elements melting with fervent heat are your beliefs, thoughts, and emotions dissolving under the heat of a vivid imagination. When you know that you are the ruler of your inner world, you do not seek without; you revise within. The new heavens and new earth are not future geography but a transformed state of consciousness in which righteousness resides as your natural activity. Look for and hasten the coming of God by turning attention to the feeling of already being the person who lives from that state. The present moment becomes the appointed day; your life in your inner talk, your holy conduct, aligns with what you intend to become. There is no fear in dissolution, only the confirmation that the end you desire is already present in you. Stay faithful to the feeling that you are the new creation now.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already dwelling in the new state of righteousness. Close your eyes and revise a current circumstance in your imagination so it reflects the new creation, and feel it real.
