Divine Promises, Present Nature

2 Peter 1:4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Peter 1 in context

Scripture Focus

4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2 Peter 1:4

Biblical Context

God grants us great and precious promises so we may partake of the divine nature and escape the corruption of the world through lust. These inner sureties initiate a transformation from within, not by outward striving.

Neville's Inner Vision

The verses reveal that the so-called promises are not distant favors but conditions of your own consciousness. The 'exceeding great and precious promises' are invitations pressed into your awareness, felt as you consent to them in imagination. By embracing these promises, you become a 'partaker of the divine nature'—not by getting something external, but by awakening to the truth that you already are the I AM in expression. The 'corruption in the world through lust' is simply the old identification with lack, separation, and sensory chasing. When you dwell in the promise, you withdraw that identification and rest in your true self. The outer world then rearranges to reflect the inner conviction. The practical key is not effort but the steadfast assumption of a fulfilled state, allowing the inner light to govern your experience.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, close your eyes, and quietly declare, 'I am now the divine nature; the promises are fulfilled in me.' Feel that state as real, and stay with the sensation of being already whole for a moment before resuming your day.
