Divine Power, Inner Practice
2 Peter 1:3-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Peter 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Peter teaches that God’s power already provides everything needed for life and godliness through knowing Him, and by embracing virtuous growth we escape worldly corruption and grow in love.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this passage, the arena of power is your own consciousness. The 'divine power' is not distant; it clothes you with every quality needed for life and godliness, drawn forth by knowing Him who called you to glory and virtue. See the promises not as distant prophecies but as vivid images your imagination can claim and inhabit. When you assent to the truth that you already possess the divine nature, you escape the corruption of the world through lust, for you are no longer the victim of appearances but the master of inner states. To this end, add the disciplined soul-work: faith grows into virtue, virtue ripens into knowledge, knowledge matures into temperance, patience, godliness; godliness expands into brotherly kindness and charity. The order is not mere moralism but a sequencing of states of consciousness. Practice is turning belief into feeling, feeling into action, action into a life patterned by the divine nature within.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume the state 'I already partake of the divine nature.' Revise a simple moment—greeting a neighbor or choosing patience—feeling the reality of that divine response as if it were now.
