Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
2 Kings 8:16-18 describes Jehoram of Judah beginning to reign, ruling eight years in Jerusalem, and following the evil path of Ahab's house, influenced by his marriage to Ahab's daughter.
Neville's Inner Vision
Jehoram’s reign in 2 Kings is a vivid image of the states of consciousness within you. The fifth year and the age of thirty-two mark a season in which a particular pattern asserts itself—reigning through old habits, fears, and external influences. The phrase “the way of the kings of Israel” signals how the mind can default to familiar, idol-making controls rather than surrender to the I AM. The marriage to the daughter of Ahab represents inner loyalties to counterfeit desires that drain power from your true sovereign—your divine I AM. “Did evil in the sight of the LORD” is not a historical judgment but a spiritual cue: the inner governor has abdicated to the old self, allowing old energies to rule your life. To reclaim the throne, you must awaken a new state of consciousness. Visualize and dwell in the feeling of the I AM reigning now, align every impulse with divine order, and revise away the old kings. Your inner life will reflect the fidelity you choose to embody.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling of the I AM as sovereign within you, and briefly picture a bright throne in your mind where you reign in fidelity. Then steadily revise any old loyalties or patterns that resemble the 'daughter of Ahab' and let the new king govern your life.
