Biblical Context
2 Kings 17:16 describes a people who turned from the LORD's commandments, crafting molten images, calves, and groves, and worshipping other powers instead of the divine within.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the Neville perspective, this verse is not about geography but about the state of consciousness. The act of leaving the commandments is the moment you forget who you are as the I AM and surrender to the thought that laws are external to you. The molten images, the two calves, the grove, and the worship of the host of heaven and Baal are inner idols—visible symbols you fashion when you forget your inner sovereignty. They are liturgies of distraction, fiddling with appearances while the real altar—the living awareness that you are God in expression—sits silently within. In truth, you never abandoned the Law; you simply turned away from it in your imagination and gave power to ephemeral images. The remedy is simple: remember the I AM within; revise the image by assuming the feeling that the inner law is supreme, and that every scene in your life answers to that law. When you persist in this inner perception, the calves melt away, and the groves fade, leaving only the one reality: you as consciousness imagining your world.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM as the sole law in this moment and feel it real. See the calves dissolve and the grove fade as the inner commandment stands bright within.
