Biblical Context
The elder speaks to the elect lady and her children, affirming truth as the enduring reality among them; he urges walking in truth, loving one another, and guarding against deceivers who deny Christ.
Neville's Inner Vision
You have always lived in the truth you now discover. The elder calls you the elect within, for the truth dwells in your consciousness and is with you for ever. Grace, mercy, and peace flow to the one who remembers the Father and the Son as one in truth and love. To walk in truth is to align your life with a timeless commandment you heard from the beginning: love one another by living the principle you already know. This love is not sentiment but the faithful obedience of walking after the divine commandments. The deceivers spoken of are only thoughts that doubt your Christ-consciousness—those insinuations that Jesus did not come in the flesh are simply beliefs that you have not embodied. Guard your inner house by refusing to entertain counterfeit ideas; do not bid them God-speed, for to do so is to part yourself from your true self. Your joy is full when you remain in the doctrine of Christ—the unity of Father and Son within you. Look inward now, and you will discover that all you sought is already yours as you dwell in truth.
Practice This Now
Imaginatively assume: I am one with the Father and the Son, walking in truth now. Feel this reality as your inner state and let it govern your day.
