2 Corinthians 8:2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Corinthians 8 in context

Scripture Focus

2How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
2 Corinthians 8:2

Biblical Context

In the midst of a great trial and deep poverty, their joy overflowed into generous giving. Their outward lack became the channel for inner abundance expressed as liberality.

Neville's Inner Vision

Observe that the 'great trial of affliction' is not a war in the outer world but a condition of mind. The Corinthians did not conquer scarcity by collecting coins; they rose in the only currency that endures—the joy of consciousness that is rich with the I AM. Their deep poverty did not curtail their power to give; it became the soil in which liberality grew because abundance is the nature of awareness when identified with God rather than with circumstance. When the inner state is joyful, it multiplies what you have by confirming your reality as already complete. Therefore, the 'riches of their liberality' are the fruits of imagination, not of situation. If you refuse to be ruled by appearances and choose to feel as though you already possess, your lack is transformed into generous action. The Spirit does not measure by pounds but by the vitality of inner feeling. So you, too, may awaken this generosity by assuming a state of fullness and acting from that assumption.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are already richly provided. Feel the joy as the I AM and imagine giving freely from that abundance.
