Inner Consolation in Trials

2 Corinthians 1:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Corinthians 1 in context

Scripture Focus

6And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
2 Corinthians 1:6-7

Biblical Context

Paul states that affliction and consolation are two sides of the same spiritual process. Enduring hardships for others yields their salvation, and being comforted confirms it.

Neville's Inner Vision

From the Neville perspective, the verse unveils a simple law: the outer events are never 'out there' but are movements of your own consciousness. When you are afflicted, you are tasting a state you have imagined into form, a belief about lack or fear. Yet this very state is the instrument through which consolation comes to you and to others. As you endure, you are not mere spectator but the creator of a shared salvation by your persistent inner conviction that you and your fellows are already whole. The 'as ye are partakers of the sufferings' line means you are in league with the same inner energy that heals; your assumption that suffering exists is the seed of its diminishing by your feeling of its opposite—consolation. The steadfast hope mentioned is your certainty that the I AM within you has resolved the matter; you are not waiting for redemption, you are declaring it here and now by what you imagine and feel. Thus every trial becomes a doorway into the consciousness where union, endurance, and future consolation are already real.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling of both suffering and consolation as one undivided state. Repeat silently: I am the I AM that consoles and is consoled; see your circle of friends shining with salvation.
