Biblical Context
Josiah leads Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand by the covenant of God, removes abominations from the land, and causes all present to serve the LORD, remaining faithful to Him.
Neville's Inner Vision
In you, the tale unfolds as a reform of your inner life. Josiah is the turning point of your awareness, awakening to the covenant—the I AM—within. The inhabitants of Jerusalem and Benjamin are the parts of your consciousness that respond to the call; to stand to it is to decide, in the feeling of now, that your inner state is fixed to the truth of God. The abominations are those inherited fears and idolatries you have tolerated; Josiah's act of removing them is a revision of belief, shedding the old mental provinces and aligning every present thought to serve the LORD your God, the one mind. If you persist in this practice, your days of wandering cease and your life follows the Lord—your own divine nature—steadfastly. The inner covenant becomes your surrounding atmosphere; your imagination becomes the lawgiver; and your reality appears as the continued obedience of the heart to the I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume the feeling of serving the LORD your God now. Revise a lingering fear as 'I am the I AM' and let that conviction govern your next thoughts.
