Biblical Context
Solomon begins building the LORD's house in Jerusalem, richly adorned, with the plan and materials symbolizing a consecrated inner state.
Neville's Inner Vision
Solomon's labor to raise a house for God is not a memory of stone and gold alone, but a parable of the soul's inner state. The temple is the consciousness in which God already dwells; the work is done in imagination before any stone touches the earth. The gold, the cherubim, the pillars, and the veil are not external curiosities but symbols of your inner dispositions—purity, strength, beauty, and the guarded holy of holies. When you overlay the house with gold and hang a veil of blue, purple, and crimson, hear these colors as the moods of your atmosphere. The two pillars, named Jachin and Boaz, represent 'he will establish' and 'in him is strength' at the core of your being, supporting your worship. The wings and cherubim signify the enlightened guard that faces inward, guiding attention toward the inward temple. The temple is a state you assume; as I, the I AM, imagine and feel from that assumption, the divine Presence becomes established within. Separation fades as imagination redefines life as God's dwelling place.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume you are already the builder of your inner temple. Feel the weight of gold as awareness, breathe in the sense of God's dwelling, and remain in that presence for a few minutes, as if it were real.
