Inner Kings, Outer Trials

2 Chronicles 28:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 2 Chronicles 28 in context

Scripture Focus

5Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.
2 Chronicles 28:5

Biblical Context

The verse describes a ruler being handed over to foreign powers, experiencing defeat and captivity.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the I AM framework, the Lord and God are your awareness; delivering the king into the hands of Syria and Israel represents inner powers you have allowed to rule your life—the fear of separation and the impulse to judge. The smiting and captivity signify the apparent consequences of identifying with those powers; the great slaughter marks the end of a familiar pattern in your mind. Yet all such scenes are only pictures in consciousness, not fixed facts. You can reframe them by assuming a new inner state: you are the sovereign I AM who rules both inner authorities. When you claim the I AM as your governing presence and feel that mastery, the scene shifts: Damascus becomes a doorway to greater awareness, and exile becomes a phase of return to your true self. Practice it now by revising the scene until you feel the pressure lift and your inner sense of control restored.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and revise the scene: declare, 'The I AM within me governs my life; external powers have no real jurisdiction over me.' Then feel the security and return to a sense of inner sovereignty as you move forward.
