Biblical Context
Amaziah turns away from the LORD; conspirators form in Jerusalem, and he flees to Lachish. They pursue him and kill him there, then bury him with his fathers in Judah.
Neville's Inner Vision
Notice that the verse is not about a king’s geography but about the inner geography of your mind. The clause turn ed away from following the LORD marks the moment you step out of alignment with the I AM, and the mind immediately arranges outward appearances—conspiracy, pursuit, and a premature end—as if to remind you of inner neglect. The 'they' are internal states of thought that arise when you forget that consciousness is the genuine ruler. 'Jerusalem' is the center of your awareness, and 'Lachish' is a withdrawal into a smaller, fearful place where you run from responsibility. The pursuit and death are sensations of guilt and fear chasing your forgotten self. Yet these are not external judgments; they are the results of inner alignment. To reinterpret, return now to the I AM, plant the idea that you are always present, never truly leaving the inner city. When you assume the timeless I AM, the conspirators dissolve, your flight becomes a remembered presence, and burial becomes the restoration of wholeness in Judah.
Practice This Now
Imitate Neville's practice: assume the feeling of the I AM now—I am always present. Revise the scene in your mind so there is no conspiracy, no pursuit, only inner wholeness in Jerusalem; then rest in that truth.
