Guarding the King Within
2 Chronicles 23:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 2 Chronicles 23 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Levites encircle the king with weapons, and the people obey Jehoiada’s command to guard the sabbath. The passage models disciplined obedience and steady order under rightful authority.
Neville's Inner Vision
Notice that the scene is not merely about soldiers, but about your inner guard around the I AM, your king. The Levites are your faculties—memory, reason, imagination—each armed with disciplined thought. To compass the king round about with weapons in hand is to surround your awareness with clear boundaries and purposeful habits. The rule that 'whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death' signifies a ruthless inner boundary to stray thoughts that would threaten your sovereignty within. Yet this sovereignty is not born of fear but of a conscious alignment: 'be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out'—a daily fidelity to present awareness in every activity. Jehoiada’s command and the sabbath maintenance symbolize persistent discipline, not mere ritual; thus the inner order remains intact, courses undismissed. When you adopt this inner state, you live as the king, with your entire being under the guard of your I AM. The outer world then reflects that center: order, loyalty, and faithful action flow from the settled mind.
Practice This Now
Assume now that your awareness is the king. Surround it with disciplined faculties as guards, and keep this inner circle intact for the next hour by gently revising stray thoughts to honor the king's presence.
