Biblical Context
Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem and built fortified cities throughout Judah and Benjamin, securing his realm with many defended towns.
Neville's Inner Vision
Behold Rehoboam's Jerusalem and the chain of fenced cities as a parable for your own inner sovereignty. In Neville's framework, the city is a state of consciousness you choose to inhabit. Jerusalem is the I AM—the awareness within you—and the fortified towns are mental dispositions you plant around that center: steadfastness, discernment, courage, and loyal covenant with God within. The list—Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa, Bethzur, Shoco, Adullam, Gath, Mareshah, Ziph, Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah, Zorah, Aijalon, Hebron—are interior positions you claim by assumption. When you feel these states as real, you form a perimeter that guards your inner kingship, just as a king protects his realm. This is the psychology of manifestation: through imagination you build the inner cities that secure your sovereignty against fear and circumstance. The covenant loyalty is toward the I AM inside you—the constant awareness that creates. Begin by choosing one inner state to fortify and dwell there with the certainty that it is your truth, right now.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, place a hand on your chest, and declare, 'I am the king of my inner Jerusalem.' Imagine a wall of light rising around your awareness, inscribed with a single quality (courage, discernment, or faith), and feel it as already true.
