Inner Kingship and Pride
2 Chronicles 10:12-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jeroboam and the people ask Rehoboam to lighten their burden; he rejects the elder's counsel and follows the younger advisers, promising to increase the yoke and to punish more severely.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the Neville lens, the scene is a drama of inner states. Jeroboam’s crowding impulse mirrors a call from the outer world for quick, punitive control. Rehoboam’s choice to discard the oldmen and heed the youth signals a mental posture: I AM as king insists on a harsher script, imagining power through punishment. The 'yoke' placed on the people represents a self-imposed belief I have accepted about myself; the 'scorpions' are the sharper imaginations that arise when I refuse to revise that decree. The kingdom described is the inner order of consciousness; when I identify with pride and self-exaltation, I invite inner turmoil that seeks expression as outer trouble. The remedy is immediate: align with the elder counsel within, hear the steady voice of the I AM in the present moment, and revise the decree from “you shall suffer” to “I guide with calm, just love.” When I make that revision, the inner kingdom clarifies and relief becomes my present experience.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly for a few minutes and declare, 'I AM the I AM within me; I listen to the wise elder counsel.' Then revise any harsh impulse into steady, compassionate guidance, feeling the heaviness lift as you envision ruling with love.
