Inner Wealth of Godliness

1 Timothy 6:3-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Timothy 6 in context

Scripture Focus

3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1 Timothy 6:3-7

Biblical Context

Paul warns that those who teach falsely and chase disputes reveal a mind oriented to envy and lack, while true gain comes from godliness combined with contentment, since material things are temporary.

Neville's Inner Vision

Paul’s admonition points not to fighting people but to discerning the inner states you inhabit. When you hear “any man teach otherwise,” you are being invited to align your consciousness with the wholesome words of our Lord Jesus and the doctrine of godliness as an inner disposition. Real godliness is not a commodity you acquire by external gain but a disciplined inner posture—an unshakable trust in the I AM as the source of all provision. The proud mind, craving debate and elevation, exposes a lack-driven current of envy, strife, and evil surmisings. You withdraw thyself from such disputations and enter the quiet temple of awareness where the word is lived. Remember: godliness with contentment is great gain because, in the state of consciousness, you already possess the riches that matter; the body and its needs are merely reflections of That One Reality. We brought nothing in and carry nothing out, so lasting wealth is the steadiness of your inner state. If you revise to that state, the outer conditions will naturally reflect your inner godliness.

Practice This Now

Practice: today, when you notice a craving for more, close your eyes and assume the state, 'I am content and godly, sustained by the I AM.' Feel that inner wealth as real and let it guide your choices and speech.
