Inner Riches, Eternal Life

1 Timothy 6:17-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Timothy 6 in context

Scripture Focus

17Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
1 Timothy 6:17-21

Biblical Context

Paul urges the rich to stop trusting uncertain riches and to trust the living God instead; he calls them to do good and to lay up a foundation of eternal life through inner virtue. He warns against profane talk and dogmatic debates that unsettle faith.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the 'rich' as the state of consciousness I AM. To be rich in this world is to be rich in the inner abundance that God pours as awareness. The 'uncertain riches' fade when I turn from outward props to the living God, the I AM within. God gives us richly all things to enjoy, meaning all happenings of life unfold from this inner crucible of awareness. This charge is not a command to hoard, but a summons to align feeling with the certainty that supply flows from me as I AM—here and now. When I do good works and am ready to distribute in imagination, I am rehearsing the natural law: what I freely radiate returns as plenty. Laying up a good foundation against the time to come is the practice of unwavering inner trust, for eternal life is the present awareness of God within. Keep the faith free from profane babblings; let grace be with thee by maintaining this inner state of consciousness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling of abundant supply, declaring I am rich in God; I trust the living I AM. Then revise fear of loss by imagining yourself freely distributing your abundance in imagination, strengthening your inner foundation of eternal life.
